While many may claim that a certain spicy chicken is the food of Music City, I must propose that Nashville is known for amazing authentic tacos. Seriously, the street tacos I consumed in Nashville were top notch. I’m here to give you the inside scoop on where to find all the best tacos in Nashville Tennessee.
On a recent long weekend trip to Nashville, my fiancé and I (unsurprisingly) indulged in a 3 day long food tour of Music City.
What was surprising were the sheer number of street tacos we consumed. It’s safe to say, we have some opinions on where you should be waiting in line for your tacos on your next trip to Nashville.
Here are my top picks for the best tacos in Nashville!
Top 7 Best Tacos in Nashville
1. BarTaco
With 2 locations in Nashville (and many across the country!), BarTaco is my pick for overall best tacos in Nashville. While we were strolling the picturesque streets of 12 South looking for Nashville Murals, we came upon this spot and just had to stop in.
We sat at the bar and ordered some of the freshest margaritas I’ve ever had. At Bartaco, they freshly squeeze all juices that they use for their cocktails – literally right in front of you!
When I’m looking for a great taco spot, I need the margaritas to match the quality and, here, they did.
Then it was taco time. As we normally do, Jonnie and I ordered almost one of each taco and shared. They were SO GOOD. With the freshest ingredients, each taco had its own personality and we almost couldn’t stop ordering more.
Our favorites were the roasted duck and seared chorizo. Absolutely amazing corn tortilla tacos!
If you’re in Nashville looking for a fantastic ambiance, freshly made margaritas and seriously amazing tacos, BarTaco is my first suggestion. Visit them in 12 South or in East Nashville.
2. Mas Tacos Por Favor
Next on my list is one of the most popular places for authentic Nashville street tacos – Mas Tacos! These are by far the best East Nashville Tacos. This super casual, cash-only spot will be seen with a line down the street most days.
Known for their incredibly fresh ingredients, crave-able Mexican street corn, and unique chicken tortilla soup, you MUST make a quick trip to East Nashville to experience Mas Tacos.
Located on an unassuming corner, this spot is swarmed with people ready to chow down on tacos. When we arrived there was line, but we didn’t care!
After a short wait we ordered one of everything, and took a seat in their cute, fenced-in outdoor seating.
The tacos were amazing – my favorite was the deep fried avocado taco. Crunchy yet creamy and so delicious. The Mexican street corn was probably my favorite bite at Mas Tacos – the flavors of the spices and the crumbled cheese were perfection.
Believe me, the wait is worth it! It’s by far the best Mexican Restaurant in East Nashville for both locals and visitors.
Searching for the best Mexican food in the area is one of the most unique things you can do in Nashville, TN.
*only open Tuesday through Saturday!!
3. Taco Mamacita

Located in picturesque Germantown, the next taco spot on my list is Taco Mamacita. Similar to the other top choices for tacos in Nashville, Taco Mama is one of the best casual Mexican restaurants in Nashville.
This no-frills stop serves “fresh-mex” 7 days a week!
Taco Mamacita is known for their unique fusion tacos and fresh margaritas! They also have neighborhood famous Peruvian chicken – a dish you can’t miss.
Be sure to stop here on your taco tour of Music City.
4. Taqueria Del Sol

Taqueria Del Sol is the epitome of Nashville meets Tacos! On this eclectic menu you’ll find Memphis tacos, cheeseburger enchiladas, Sloppy “Jose” tacos and more.
The menu doesn’t stop at unique eats. Their vast drink menu includes a make-your-own margarita option, as well as many repasado, blanco, and mezcal options!
This BBQ-inspired taco joint is the perfect casual spot to grab some tacos and cocktails with a Nashville flare. Head over to their location on Charlotte Avenue for these yummy eats!
5. Saint Anejo

Part of the M Street Restaurant Group, Saint Anejo is one of the more upscale taco places in Nashville. Complete with over 120 types of tequila and mezcal, this spot is a great place to gather with friends for a casual night out or a special occasion!
With a large selection of tacos, salads, and entrees, Saint Anejo has plenty of mouth-watering options. If you’re looking to host an event, call in advance and book their Tequila Library, an upstairs space with a balcony overlooking the restaurant.
If you’re looking for great tacos and a spot for tequila tasting with friends, Saint Anejo located on McGavock Street is one of the best tacos in Nashville Downtown!
6. Edley’s BBQ
Okay, I know what you’re thinking. A BBQ joint has the best tacos? Although this may be my pick for best BBQ in Nashville (post coming soon!), one item on their menu granted them a spot on the taco list as well. If you are looking for the best fish tacos in Nashville, head to Edley’s for their catfish tacos.
If you’re not sure about catfish or even say that you already know you don’t like catfish, just try these anyways. They were AMAZING – I almost liked them more than the brisket bbq platter I got!
Head over to their location in 12 South and get everything “Nashville” in one spot!
Pro Tip: if you’re looking for an iconic Nashville dessert – order their banana pudding. SO delicious!
7. Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa
Picture this – you’re on Broadway, going from bar to bar, listening to amazing country music. You’ve had a few cocktails and you’re craving, of all things, tacos.
Yes, there are plenty of places to get food on Broadway but Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa is one of the best Nashville bars on Broadway for a taco downtown!
You’ll find lots of tex-mex classics here – a great place for those looking for a more “American-ized” approach with live country music to serenade you while you eat! Here, the prices will be higher but the quality is still great.

The food is not nearly as authentic as Mas Tacos or Bartaco, but they certainly hold a candle, especially in this part of town. With their disco cowgirl vibes, this is a great spot in the heart of Broadway to refuel during a bachelorette weekend.
And that’s my take on the best tacos in Nashville! If you are in town, you must stop at ALL of these places. The best thing about tacos is they are small and affordable – you can easily taco crawl your way around Nash.
I hope this inspires you to try the true food of Nashville – authentic street tacos.
