Wondering what to do on a beautiful day in Northeast Ohio? Well, if you’re a wine lover (like me), a trip to some of the best Northeast Ohio wineries is the perfect way to relax and unwind! From Ashtabula and Geneva to Cleveland and Canton, there are tons of amazing Ohio vineyards and wineries.
When I was living in Northeast Ohio, I was surprised to learn that this region of the USA is actually home to extremely unique wine country! Ancient glaciers made way for soil that produces some of the most delicious Riesling grapes and Ice Wine.
As a total wine lover, I made sure to visit as many Ohio wineries as I could while living there. Between the unique wines, beautiful patios, and great views, it turns out Ohio is now one of my favorite wine destinations.
Whether you are a wine expert or are just looking to sip on something sweet on a beautiful spring day, here are 18 must-visit Wineries in Northeast Ohio by region PLUS an Ohio Winery Map at the end of the post!

Best Wineries in Ashtabula, Ohio
1. Cask 307
Nestled among many of the best wineries in Northeast Ohio and Ashtabula, Cask 307 is a boutique winery offering a beautiful setting for any get together.
Although there are many Ashtabula county wineries to choose from, Cask 307 comes in as one of the top-rated wineries in the area.
Cask 307 has a modern, state-of-the-art facility that produces 16 unique bottles including bourbon barrel aged Chardonnay and their own famous Ice Wine.
Stop by the winery for a drink in their spacious barn or on their quaint patio. They also offer a beer selection from Double Wing Brewing Company, as well as appetizers and sandwiches at the Deli.

2. Tarsitano Winery

Located in the Conneaut Creek grape growing region, married couple Ken and Kelly Tarsitano take pride in offering some of the best locally crafted wine in Northeast Ohio at their winery!
With the first grapes planted in 1998, Tarsitano Winery has been operating for over 24 years, producing wine solely from their farm.
Stop by and enjoy a glass of one of their most popular bottles with options including a Petite Syrah, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay.
Today they also offer a full service restaurant, open Thursdays through Sundays. With menu items including short ribs and salmon, this is the perfect winery to also enjoy dinner!

Located in Conneaut, Ohio (11 miles Ashtabula) is a quaint, boutique vineyard experience, complete with an onsite Bed and Breakfast. Book one of their four suites and enjoy their handcrafted wine all day and all night!

5. Ferrante Winery & Ristorante

Located in the Grand River Valley wine region, Ferrante Winery and Ristorante is one of the longest standing wineries in the Northeast Ohio area.
Opened in the 1970’s by the Ferrante family, the winery has been passed down generations. To this day, it stands as one of the quintessential places for great wine in Geneva, Ohio. They are especially known for their Vidal Blanc Ice Wine.
Ice Wine is made from grapes that are harvested in colder climate vineyards – aka Ohio! The addition of frozen water when extracted from the wine leaves a thick concentration of juice. This creates perfect sweeter, dessert wines!
Ferrante Winery is nestled on 40 acres of land, complete with its own tasting room, patio, and full service restaurant! Pair any one of their 20+ wines with delicious pizza, pasta, or steak.

Not only does M Cellars utilize the Grand River Valley conditions to create award winning Rieslings, their wine list includes exquisite bottles of Chardonnay Reserve and Pinot Noir!
M Cellars offers some of the best wine tasting in Ohio as well as winery tours for small and large groups. 8. Virant Family Winery
If you’re looking for a quaint, family-owned winery experience, Virant Family Winery is the perfect choice for you. When you visit Virant, you’re treated like family!
Home to fruit-forward white wines and ice wine, Virant Winery is a perfect winery for those who like a bit sweeter wines.

Voted Ohio’s “Best of the Best” in 2017, 2018, and 2022, Laurentia is a nationally acclaimed destination in the heart of the Grand River Valley.
At Laurentia, the winemakers grow and ferment their own grapes across their 45 acres of vineyard. Opened to the public in 2015, the estate takes pride in harvesting as close to perfect fruit as possible, claiming to create better batches each year!

11. Debonne Vineyards
Known as the largest estate winery in Ohio, Debonne is a huge 175 acre vineyard in the heart of the Grand River Valley! This spot should be on your list of Ohio wineries to visit just for the property alone.
Debonne is home to one of the largest wine menus in the area. Complete with dry whites, dry reds, roses, ice wines, and fruit wines, you’ll have to visit more than once to try them all!
Better yet, enjoy one of their wine flights during a tour of the vineyards.

Silver Crest Cellars is one of the newest wineries in the Grand River Valley of Madison Ohio. Opened in 2018, this small boutique winery is unique in the way that they specialize in dry reds.
Silver Crest bottles locally grown grapes, creating delicious bottles such as cabernet franc and meritage blends.

15. Gervasi Vineyards
Located in Canton Ohio, Gervasi Vineyards is an award-winning destination that Ohio is so lucky to claim!
This resort winery is a sprawling 55-acre estate complete with restaurants, gift shops, tasting rooms, villas, and even a spa! It is one of the top winery resorts in Ohio (and the country!), and is by far one of the best Northeast Ohio wineries in Canton.
Gervasi Vineyards offers 30+ varieties of wines, perfect for any taste. Grab a glass while you enjoy pizza outside at the Piazza, or at a refined dinner in the Bistro – one of the best restaurants in Canton, Ohio!

16. Winery at Wolf Creek
Located in Barberton (just 9 miles from Akron), the Winery at Wolf Creek is a local winery full of so much charm. Nestled on a hill above Barberton Reservoir, this gorgeous setting is the perfect backdrop for your next happy hour.
In their tasting room, you can sip and taste test up to 23 different varieties of wine, as well as signature wine slushies and cocktails. They have snacks available for purchase, but they also encourage bringing your own food. Pack a picnic basket and enjoy a table with a view!
The Winery at Wolf Creek offers special events including outdoor games, visits with their resident goats, their weekly “Yappy Hour”, and live music!
One of my favorite events is their annual Wine Run 5K! Jonnie and I have attended twice! You get to run a 5K through the vineyards and then enjoy a complimentary glass of wine afterwards. It was one of our favorite activities we did in Ohio. Learn all about the Wine Run here!

17. Sarah’s Vineyard
Nestled right in picturesque Cuyahoga Valley, Sarah’s Vineyard is a great stop for delicious wine, pizza, and ambiance near Canton and Akron.
Opened in 2007, Sarah’s Vineyard is a family-owned business. The main tasting room barn is the focal point of the property, offering 13 wine varietals, salads, sandwiches, and their famous wood-fired pizzas.
Claim a spot in the tasting room and peruse their on-site art gallery. Or snag a seat in the garden sanctuary out back.
Sarah’s Vineyard is also conveniently located right across from the main entrance to Blossom Music Center; grab a bottle and pizza before a night of music – they encourage it! They also host their own live music every Wednesday, November thru April.
Sarah’s Vineyard is a casual, laid-back setting that is perfect for any happy hour or weekend getaway.
18. Michael Angelo’s Winery

A winery and a bakery… need I say more? Michael Angelo’s Winery, located in Richfield, Ohio, has all of my favorite things wrapped up into one spot – wine, Italian food, baked goods, and a beautiful setting!
Opened in 2018, this newer establishment is a cafe-style winery. Guests order wine and food from the cafe desk and then take their seats in their gorgeous barn-inspired main tasting room, or outside on the patio.
Sip on any one of their 13 bottles, or order a flight! On Saturdays you can also book wine tours to learn everything there is to know about Michael Angelo’s – for only $25.
Their full service Italian restaurant menu is ever-changing and offers plenty of shareable appetizers, pastas, and pizzas – all for really good prices!
The bakery is a whole other entity, offering hundreds of different expertly-made treats.
Michael Angelo’s is a great modern winery that must be added to your list of Northeast Ohio wineries to try. Spend a morning hiking in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and then grab lunch and an afternoon vino here!
